Answers from the Larnaca SVA Test Center
For an overview, read our guide to SVA testing in Larnaca. If your vehicle has unusual documents or specifications, contact the team for individual guidance.
What is a Single Vehicle Approval test?
SVA is an individual vehicle inspection used to check that an imported vehicle meets the applicable safety, environmental and technical requirements before registration in Cyprus.
Which vehicles may need an SVA test?
M1 passenger vehicles up to five years old imported from countries outside the EU — including Japan — are a common SVA category. Some EU imports and personal imports may also require additional approval depending on their documents and specification. Contact us with the vehicle details so we can help confirm the correct route.
What documents should I prepare?
Prepare your personal identification, the original Export Certificate and proof of ownership. We will tell you if anything else is needed for your specific vehicle.
What are your opening hours?
The test centre is open Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00. It is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
How do I request an appointment?
Use the online appointment form or call +357 24 819000. Online requests are confirmed by our team after we check availability.
Why is SVA needed before registration?
The process checks an individual imported vehicle against the applicable Cyprus and European safety and environmental requirements. A vehicle that passes receives the SVA certificate used in the next stage of registration.
What does the inspection cover?
The inspection covers visibility, glazing, lighting, seat belts, body fittings, tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, vehicle construction, noise and petrol or diesel emissions. See the complete inspection checklist.
What happens after my vehicle passes?
The inspector prepares a signed and stamped hard-copy SVA certificate. Take that certificate, together with any other required documents, to the Department of Road Transport to continue registration.
Where is the Larnaca SVA Test Center?
